IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant slams fan for ‘fake news’ over potential move to RCB

India and DC wicketkeeper batter lashed out at a user for spreading fake news around cricketer’s interest to join RCB ahead of IPL 2025. According to the user, Pant reportedly approached RCB seeking leadership opportunities in the franchise ahead of IPL 2025. However, the report claimed that his move was denied by the RCB management as Virat Kohli didn’t want him in the team.
Slamming the report, Pant vehemently denied the claim and asked the fans to refrain from spreading fake news. Notably, Pant made a comeback to professional cricket in the IPL 2024 after surviving a near-fatal car crash on December 30, 2022.
“Fake news . Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media. Be sensible guys so bad . Don’t create untrustworthy environment for no reason. It’s not the first time and won’t be last but I had to put this out .please always re check with your so called sources. Everyday it’s becoming worst . Rest it’s upto you guys . It’s wasn’t just for you it’s for a lot for people who is spreading misinformation. Tc,” Pant wrote on his X account.
Pant had a good season on his return as he scored 446 runs from 13 matches at an average of 40.54 and a strike rate of 155.40. However, under his leadership, DC failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished on the sixth spot with seven wins from 14 matches having 14 points to their name.
Pant has been a part of DC ever since his debut in the T20 extravaganza in 2016 and has been leading the team ever since 2021 when he replaced an injured Shreyas Iyer to be the leader. He didn’t captain the team in the 2023 season which he missed due to his car accident injuries with David Warner filling in his place.
Meanwhile, Delhi has announced a change in their coaching staff ahead of the next season with Sourav Ganguly replacing Ricky Ponting as the head coach, who’s been acquired by PBKS ahead of the next season. The BCCI will be announcing the retention rules soon ahead of the mega auction for the next season.
